Festivus For The Rest Of Us

Anna got to meet Santa at our ward Christmas breakfast (hence the kids in their pj's). She was excited to see him and then freaked out before we got to the door. We had to drag her in there (we are awesome parents like that). She was shy and it took her about 5 minutes to finally tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas, 'toys'.

Christmas Eve we headed to my aunt and uncles house for an amazing dinner. My uncles prime rib is the only I will eat - so yummy. Then we came back to our house and set out cookies for Santa that Annabelle and I made the previous day.

One a side note, does anyone know of any good egg free cookie recipes? I tried looking up some on the internet, but they looked nasty. Anna likes helping me bake, but I feel bad that she can not partake of a lot of the things that I make.

Well, Santa must have liked the cookies because he left her some presents. Mrs. Claus, if you will, made sure Santa got these sunglasses to put in her stocking. She got a new Strawberry Shortcake book for her birthday in which Strawberry lets Angel Cake borrow her new sunglasses and she brakes them. These sunglasses look the exact same. Santa didn't think it was that cool. But Mrs. Claus was right - she loved them.

She could have cared less about her razer.

Mom and Dad got her Dora's talking back pack. You can tell by her face it was her favorite present of all. But now I have that dang backpack song stuck in my head all day long.

Santa was kind enough to bring Evan new binky's and a new toy. Basic, yes, but you can't go wrong.

Ross opened his Christmas and Birthday presents. I love that he got a deep fat fryer, cook books, fast food gift cards and candy and I got a digital scale, health food, and work out clothes. lol. In his defense he did get a new football too and some dvd's and he doesn't have baby weight to lose.

After our little Christmas morning, we headed to my parent's house to have Christmas with them. As soon as we walked in the door Cooper ran up to Ross and said 'There are balloons downstairs. Happy Birthday. Let's go get them!' haha. So Ross got to open his birthday present from my parents right away.

He just wanted money. So my mom rolled all the money and put it in the balloons. The kids had fun popping the balloons to get the money out. But unrolling the bills and ironing them took forever..and it stunk. Literally. Silly Jane thinks she is so funny. It's all good because we got her back. We gave her $60 in pennies for her Christmas presents...unrolled. Muahaha. I wish I could see her drag that heavy box to the bank.

Evan had fun opening his presents and shoving the wrapping paper in his mouth.

My parents gave Anna some dress ups. She was in heaven! Not to mention she loves the chest they came in just as much as the dress ups themselves. Before she even comes out of her bed room in the morning she has already pulled the 'treasure chest' out of the closet and put on a few items. She also likes to put other things inside the chest, put one of her blankets on top of the chest and then make Ross and I watch her 'unwrap' her present.

We all had a lot of fun, especially the kids. Cooper crashed on my dad's lap while he was reading him a book and Maddie crashed watching Dora. Good times. Not my kid though - she kept going and going. **sigh**

The next day we headed over to Ross' parents house to have Christmas with them. I didn't take pictures of everyone opening presents, but Ross got a picture of Evan with his new toy. He loves it - though I have caught Annabelle playing with it more than he does.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year...tomorrow. I can't believe it is almost 2010. Shouldn't I have a hover board by now?!

Annabelle Turns 3!

Anna has been so excited for her birthday this year. Since about October to be exact, How do you tell your kid you got two more months? Several times a week we would have the following conversation:

Anna: Whose birthday is next?
Me: Grandma Saundra's

Anna: Then whose?
Me: Kayla's
Anna: Then whose?
Me: Grandma Jane's
Anna: Then whose?
Me: Yours!
Anna: Yay! I am so excited! Am I going to have a party with games and decorations and loads of presents? (That is what is said in one of her many Strawberry Shor
tcake books)

Well, why not give the little girl what she so desires? So she got to have her very first friends birthday party. And since she is a candy girl (not one for cookies, cake, ice cream and what not) we decided to go with a candy themed party.

Her invites - thanks again to my awesome friend Brynn who whipped up the lettering in the middle of the lollipop for me.

The set up. She was very excited about the banner that my mom and I made and loved to say each letter and then tell me what it spells. Of course the balloons were a hit, but she was not a fan of the table cloth at first. Really?! A little bizarre to say the least.

The candy buffet. She wanted cup cakes and since I have yet to bust out any egg free recipes in fear they would be gross or that she wouldn't even try them anyway (most likely scenario) I decided to make oreo truffle cupcake bites (egg free). She was most excited about these, ate one bite and didn't want anymore. Go figure.

Each of the kids got a little Chinese 'to go' box (on the left) to fill with goodies and party favors to take home. (I am sure the parents are so happy with me). Brynn also designed the tags on the boxes and candy jars. She is amazing!

Before we ate lunch and got all the kids hopped up on sugar we did play some games. Including some riveting games of Candyland,

a bean bag toss, duck duck goose, etc - you know, the classics. Annabelle also got spoiled with presents. My favorite moment of the day was when she opened her first present and it was a book. She proceeds to 'read' the book. All the kids are telling her she has more presents to open and she replies, 'but I am reading this book first.'

Even after she opened Ross' present (thanks Ross) and all the kids were taking their turn, she sat in the other room reading all the new books she got. My dad just laughed and said we should have just gotten her a library card ;) We have one of those already in our defense.

She did have fun playing with her new drums later that night though...and all day today. Yay for a drum set! Ross is now one step closer to forming the family band he has always dreamed about. Oh and I am really not kidding. Evan will be playing the bass...or so he says...
