So we made it to the party alive and had fun playing a few games, opening presents and eating. Usually I would bake something, but the smell of things baking is still not desirable so much right now, so I just made 7 layer been dip instead - always good, right? Anna had fun playing with all the other little kids and going up and down the stairs. (Please note the candy dish in the lower left of the above picture - it comes into play later) Ross tried to get a picture of her smiling, but she wouldn't show her teeth, she just kept smiling like this.
He then realized she mad a mouth full of m&m's she had snuck. Dang kid!

Guacamole - my brother in-law made this because he makes the guac at Sonora Grill and it was muy bien if I do so say so!

Pico de gallo - made by yours truly. Hey, my husband has taught me a few things from his mission...so what if they are food related ;)
Cafe Rio rice - made by Ross. We decided it was the most 'authentic' Cafe Rio dish on the table.

After dinner Anna and my mom opened their presents (we did a combined birthday party).

The grand kids were fighting over who got to sit on grandma's lap. Anna was literally pushing Maddie away because she wanted my mom all to herself - which was probably my mom's favorite present.

That food for your mom's bday looks so dang good! Sounds like a fun/busy weekend. I agree by the end of December I am so tired! But it makes the cold ugly winter a little more enjoyable to actually have things to do!
Happy birthday Jane! That dinner looks yummy, good job Overman clan! Looks like fun, and I'm glad you guys didn't get in wreck, people really are stupid when they drive aren't they.
We wondered where you guys were this weekend. Glad you had a great time. I have a present for Anna that I need to bring down. It's just so cold and snowy!
When was Anna's birthday? I love how sneaky she is all the time. The food looks delicious by the way!
happy birthday jane and anna. that dinner looks great.
Your weekends are always jam packed with fun. I wish I could say the same. I know you aren't into food that much right now but you still managed to make me hungry reading your post. You do this to me every single week. Actually Chels does it a lot too. By the way Jane looks more beautiful than ever!
Yes, December is crazy...but so fun! I do have to say, though, I prefer the drive to Ogden from Utah County rather than braving the treacherous Sardine Canyon. They usually have the freeway cleared off fairly well.
AFCU used to have their bonus nights at the Grand America and the food always stunk...how did you guys get the good stuff?
Happy birthday to Annabelle (tomorrow, right?)
Oh and Megan I would love to take Annabelles 2 year pictures! I've been having tons of fun with it! Lets try to find a time!
Will you sometime pencil me into your schedule to give me a personal cooking class, thanks I really appreciate it.
Maybe they knew that you scored big with the Ellen give aways that they decided you didn't need to win anything. JK.
The food looks uber tasty!
I love that Anna was hiding the fact that she snuck the M&M's. What a smart little girl!
I agree December is friggin crazy! I'm trying to figure out how to see everyone in our life in the next 10 days somehow! The food looks devine and your cute mom looks fabulous. Anna is too funny with the mouth full of m&m's...ahh the things I get to look forward to. I still do want to have a get together...I'll email you :)
Were those M&M's by chance the delicious mint chocolate ones..holiday special? Well, I can't blame her..I think R came in the room the other day and I had a mouth full..it was pretty embarrassing when he made me spit them all out..I mean who does HE think HE is?
Anyway..nice Christmas parties! and yummy Cafe Rio food..I would be jealous..but I am in Utah today and I can go eat it hahahahaha..
hee-hee its alexis..not Jordan..I guess I'm signed in under my bro's account..sorry
Wow! Tis the season for birthdays!!! Glad you had a fun time!!! All that food looks SOOOO good! Hmmm..Maybe we'll have something similar for lunch!
You make me so hungry with all the yummy food you post. I wish I could grab a bite through this computer screen. I'm glad your mom had a wonderful birthday and got treated like a queen. Sounds like you had amazing weekend. Happy Birthday to Anna soon!

Happy Birthday to your mom. You are so good at remembering stuff. I always tell people I have a friend who has a birthday on Christmas and he loves it because everyone celebrates his birthday. I did make the cake. That's right be impressed. Not really. Yes our husbands are similar. That is funny about Ross's multiplication skills. Tyler will always beat me. Although recently I started doing multiplication tables when I run funny huh? I'm excited to get together soon!
isn't sonora guac the best? my life was seriously complete when i learned how to make that.
I agree. December is craziness. It looks like you've had an amazing time so far, though! That road trip sounded like an absolute blast! How cool that you got all that free stuff AND got to see the Ellen show!!
Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Jane! That last pic with all the grandkids is so cute.
