Annabelle Turns 3!

Anna has been so excited for her birthday this year. Since about October to be exact, How do you tell your kid you got two more months? Several times a week we would have the following conversation:

Anna: Whose birthday is next?
Me: Grandma Saundra's

Anna: Then whose?
Me: Kayla's
Anna: Then whose?
Me: Grandma Jane's
Anna: Then whose?
Me: Yours!
Anna: Yay! I am so excited! Am I going to have a party with games and decorations and loads of presents? (That is what is said in one of her many Strawberry Shor
tcake books)

Well, why not give the little girl what she so desires? So she got to have her very first friends birthday party. And since she is a candy girl (not one for cookies, cake, ice cream and what not) we decided to go with a candy themed party.

Her invites - thanks again to my awesome friend Brynn who whipped up the lettering in the middle of the lollipop for me.

The set up. She was very excited about the banner that my mom and I made and loved to say each letter and then tell me what it spells. Of course the balloons were a hit, but she was not a fan of the table cloth at first. Really?! A little bizarre to say the least.

The candy buffet. She wanted cup cakes and since I have yet to bust out any egg free recipes in fear they would be gross or that she wouldn't even try them anyway (most likely scenario) I decided to make oreo truffle cupcake bites (egg free). She was most excited about these, ate one bite and didn't want anymore. Go figure.

Each of the kids got a little Chinese 'to go' box (on the left) to fill with goodies and party favors to take home. (I am sure the parents are so happy with me). Brynn also designed the tags on the boxes and candy jars. She is amazing!

Before we ate lunch and got all the kids hopped up on sugar we did play some games. Including some riveting games of Candyland,

a bean bag toss, duck duck goose, etc - you know, the classics. Annabelle also got spoiled with presents. My favorite moment of the day was when she opened her first present and it was a book. She proceeds to 'read' the book. All the kids are telling her she has more presents to open and she replies, 'but I am reading this book first.'

Even after she opened Ross' present (thanks Ross) and all the kids were taking their turn, she sat in the other room reading all the new books she got. My dad just laughed and said we should have just gotten her a library card ;) We have one of those already in our defense.

She did have fun playing with her new drums later that night though...and all day today. Yay for a drum set! Ross is now one step closer to forming the family band he has always dreamed about. Oh and I am really not kidding. Evan will be playing the bass...or so he says...

You are such an imaginative mom. My poor kids will know nothing but sports or Packers and maybe eventually again Brett Favre. What a cute 3 year old you have! A girl who loves candy is a girl after my own heart. I for one liked the table cloth...she is funny. Glad it went so well.

Will you plan my next Birthday party? I like cake and ice cream and I want it to be an adults only party :) Just kidding. That party looks great. I love that Anna is such a book worm. Ross looks like he is having the time of his life playing candy land. Tyler plays his guitar to Grant at night when he gets fussy. It is good times. By the way Anna's hair always looks super cute! Way to go mom.

you are so much like your sister! So glad that I am in kahoots with you both so I can copy and look almost as good as you guys do!
THanks for the kind words about the show today!
I am wondering-do you think that Brynn would be willing to help me out with some stuff for my vt kits? I would pay her of course. I just don't know how to do the digital stuff. I know, I should learn. Maybe, she could give me a lesson. I could pay her for that instead. Would you mind terribly passing along that I would love to chat with her and giving her my email address? sassygirlshop@comcast.net
Thanks again and tell ross any time he wants to jam-my dad is an ex pro drummer. (so not kidding about this one, he has a set in his basement) they could jam together!!

Holy Cow! What a party. If they have to keep getting better and better each year, you're in trouble for 10!! P.S. LOVED your neighbor gift. Soo funny!

You always have the best ideas. I love her invitations. I'm not a fan of plastic table coverings either, but with kids it's the only way to go. Merry Christmas!

Looks like it was such a cute party, nice job! I love the invites. And I didn't know about Ross' dreams of having a family band. Tell him to talk to my dad, that was always his dream too, except he wanted to be the family Von Trapp. :)
