Sorry in advance for all of the pictures - I swear I took SO many more and really tried to narrow it down.
So my mom and I had this brilliant idea that we would take the kids down in the truck because it would be a lot quicker if her and I headed down for St. George before everyone else - since they stayed later for work - that way only one car had to make all the necessary stops that children require ;) This is what I got to see every time I looked out the back window of my dad's truck.
About 1/2 an hour after Anna fell asleep, Maddie screamed and it woke her up. Shortly thereafter Maddie fell asleep and about 1/2 an hour later Anna woke her up - so fun. We kept them entertained with electronics.
My mom and I got sick of driving, so we let them take over ;)
Really though, for 3 kids in the car - it wasn't that bad and it surely could have been a lot worse. For me, it made the drive go by quick constantly trying to make one happy, find the binky, etc.. We got to St. George and checked into the hotel, went to the race site, got our packets, got our bodies marked and went to the Pasta/Pizza Factory for dinner. I don't think John or I slept much that night - we were both too excited.
We got to the race quite early to set up. This is my bike/transition area.

John and I before the race (don't mind the lady nursing in the background - I surely did not see that when we were there)
Me swimming - definitely the weakest link in my triathlon skills. I like 'open water' swimming a little better. If only I would I would have done better in my swim...
John swimming - he did not get to enter the pool until almost an hour after me! It was cool though cause then I got to see him do a lot of the triathlon, cheer him on and take some better pics (love ya dad!)

The bike was 2 loops and this is me coming down through the parking lot of the aquatic center ready to go back out again. There were a few hills, but the course was great. I wish I could have taken some pictures while I was biking because it was such a beautiful day and a scenic ride.

John biking.

Me running up the dirt hill to run up another hill. My biggest fear would be barfing at this point and I am happy to say that it didn't happen :) Running is my favorite part - I actually ranked 1st in the running in my division.
I had to slow down here cause the speed limit was 20 ;) I was cheering for myself (which explains the 'Arsenio Hall' action going on) cause I was at the top of the hill and all I had to do was run down it and sprint about 100 feet to the finish line - HOORAY!

John on the run. I made sure to get the red mountains behind him.

It was kind of sad when it was over and all said and done. Last year the best time in my category was 1 hour 16 minutes, so my goal was to finish around that time. I finished in 1 hour 17 minutes; however, this year the 1st place girl in my division did it in 1 hour 12 minutes and I missed 3rd place by 3 minutes and placed 5th in my division. Oh well! John finished in 1 hour and 14 minutes. See results here.

Annabelle had a blast playing in the sand behind the aquatic center. She was truly in heaven being able to play outside this whole trip. Hopefully the spring weather will stick now that we are back home!
After the race we went back to the hotel to shower and the kids needed a nap. Later that evening we hit the pool and Anna had fun splashing in the water.

What better way to celebrate though, than a trip to ColdStone Creamery?!

Sunday after church, we headed to Bear Paw - it just wouldn't be a trip to St. George without it. Annabelle and Bradee had fun playing across the street while we waited to be seated.

Our yummy breakfast.

Ross wasn't able to go to St. George because he had to work on the car and work cause we will be out of town again this week. So when I got back he surprised me with a present to congratulate me on the race. It was a big bag of peanut m&m's (my fave) cause I had sworn off sweets for a while before the race and the movie 'Juno'. I had been wanting to see it since it was in theatres. It had nothing but good reviews - which maybe set my hopes too high. If you want my take on the movie, click here .
I am happy to be home, but sad to leave St. George as usual. I had a great time and I am looking forward to the next race. Sorry for the uber long post - I don't even know if anyone is still reading this - and thanks everyone for wishing me good luck - I had a blast!

CONGRATS!!! That is SO amazing that you can do that, I never could. Seriously I am impressed. what a fun trip too!
way to go!!! i didn't even know you were a racer. i give you props. i hate running unless there is something in front of me to chase. like soccer or reese. anyway, good job
I had so much fun this weekend, I forget how much there is to do in St George. We definitely need to plan another trip down and stay longer…You did awesome! Will you send me the pictures you have on your camera…
Wow, impressive! You're our new hero.
nice job on the triathalon. I'm super impressed. I also have a heard time leaving st. geroge when I go. so sad...
Wow, way to go! That's awesome! I swear I'm so lazy because just reading this made me tired. I think I need a nap. JK. Anyway, it looks like you guys had a great time. Congrats on the 5th place finish!!!
For some reason I couldn't read your take on Juno. I went to the site but couldn't see what you had posted. Anyway, I saw this movie over the weekend for the first time as well. I hadn't heard a thing about the movie for some reason, but our neighbors let us borrow it so we watched it. I actually loved it. I was surprised at how much I really did like the movie. It was a little racey and edgy, but overall I thought it was good. I liked how smart Juno was and how awkward Bleeker was. Perhaps I liked it because I had no expectations for it going in though. I want to read your review though.
Yeah so it is not 'my' review on the movie. It is a review I read that I totally agree with. I too liked Bleeker's akwardness and such, but I think I thought it would be better. The over use of teen lingo got to me a little and even though nothing happened, the way Jason Bateman was with Ellen Page, kind of freaked me out.
If you go to www.cracked.com and type Juno into the search, it will bring up the article. It is kind of long, but I thought it was funny.
So yeah, that was me...obviously I did not know I was signed in as my husband.
Way to go on the race! That is seriously so awesome. I tried to get into running last year. I was finally able to fun like 1 mile without dying and then I found out I was pregnant. Needless to say I didn't continue my running adventures. I think my body wishes I had now. Congrats though sounds like you had lots of fun!
Congrats! You are my hero. I plan to get back into running once I dont have a baby bouncing around in my stomach. You are my motivation too, look at your awesome time for the race! I agree with your movie review. I sure hated the end result with Jen Garner's husband and Juno. What the crap? Why end a movie that way? Not my kind of happy ending at all.
Wow...that is all I have to say! I am so impressed with you and John! You guys look great!!! You're getting way to skinny missy...maybe you need to come live with me again so I can feed you the PB. I'm pretty bummed that we couldn't come down with you guys...but if you plan another trip down there...we'll be there for sure...we are in serious need of a vacation. I'm saddened you didn't love Juno....I LOVED it...but it could also be because I went and saw it before I had heard really anything about it. Mmm Bear Paw..
COOL BEANS!!!!!
Way to go! Congratulation. Look at that time. Impressive! Wow..that just sounds like one heck of a fun weekend. Too bad Ross couldn't go, but your Congrats present was awesome. What a sweet hubby. I bet the hardest part of the weekend wasn't the race, but the little tikes in the back of the truck on the way down...holy cow! Now that looked like a lot of work. I guess I'll see you this weekend:)
Way to go you All-Star. I haven't been to Bear Paw, but I really want to drive down to St. George right now to partake...I am obsessed with breakfast foods and that food looks so friggin good. I used to stop at Cold Stone on the way home from Vegas and I always thought of you--good times.
I'm so proud of you!!!! You are my inspiration. Maybe I will try to do one of those things. I got the 5 k down but I think I would pretty much suck at the rest. Dang girl you also look soooooooooo skinny just like in the picture of you in St. George that you always looked at and said I was so skinny then. I love anna's swimsuit. I better wrap this up before it becomes longer than your post. I didn't read your review about Juno but you better have loved it because I did it's my new favorite movie.
Looks like you had a fun packed weekend. Congrats on your finish! And BTW your JUNO link was honestly the funniest thing I have read in a long time. I did honestly love the movie though.
The lady nursing the back ground!! He baby is hanging off her boob!!! It's like a lasso!! Gross!! I am so proud. Me and Marie were there in spirit since we kept just missing each other! Let's go down this fall and leave the kiddies behind!! what do you say. I found a store I need to return too when I am at a normal figure!
Congrats on the race! You are a great motivation, but let's be real I hate running and I'll never be that motivated! I can't believe you didn't LOVE Juno. Nate and I saw it twice in the movie theater. I thought it was hilarious and I loved every minute of it! You have now started a tradition with me of always going to the bear paw when I am in St. George.
way to go megan, you are my hero. i'm tired just reading about it. i think i will just stick to my walking everyday
Way to go, when did you start doing triathlons? I'm so impressed. I've always wanted to run something. Maybe next year I can finally try since I finally won't be pregnant! And I can totally relate to the car ride, the farthest I've gone with all 4 is just to my mom's house and it can be rough. I still can't believe you did a triathlon, I'm so proud!
That's awesome! I wish I was able to do that. I am just trying to 5k, and you are all ready conquering triathlons. One day maybe I will be as buff as you and be able to do a triathlon.
Ha, sorry about my husband influencing yours. He did tell Brandon that he would trade his wife for his xbox 360.....but brandon said he already had enough to take care of...aren't they sweet
Congrats!! I didn't know it was soo soon. That is awesome! So you'll have to break it down for me, how long of a swim, bike and run was it? I still want to do one..but I keep having babies! haha just teasing. Someday huh?
Megan,
Thank you SO much for that link. I actually do remember her and I am super excited to follow her blog. I read some of it already and you're right, it's right up my alley! Thanks again!
MEG!! YOU FREAKIN' ROCK!! It is so amazing that 1) you trained for and finished a triathlon and 2) that you finished so FAST!! What an accomplishment!! When I get back to Utah, will you teach me how do that? :) Congrats, girl!
Hey! I have some questions for you but I can't find your email. You worked at curves, right? Did you like it? What did you do? What positions do they have that I'd be qualified for? Basically, tell me about everything :)
Teagan (tandtmcarthur@gmail.com)
