Motherhood

Sometimes I wonder what the crap I got myself into when I became a mom! For instance, I have come to conclude my child is the slowest teether in the world. I first saw one of her molars peeking through her gums in February and it still hasn't broken all the way through. Is this normal? I can see most of her tooth, but just the last little 'point' needs to break through. Mind you she is getting 3 other molars too. Some days she is absolutely miserable, especially when she is eating. She will clench her fists, hold her breath out of frustration until she lets out a scream. It breaks my heart cause there is not much I can do.

She has been clingy too - which if you know my child - is out of the ordinary. She will stand at my feet and say "ease, ease, ease" until I pick her up. Well I was making dinner the other night and could not pick her up. I could tell her teeth were bothering her because she clenched her fists, shoved them in her mouth and started to cry. Obviously this did not help because next thing - she grabs my thigh and bit down so hard! I wanted to screamed - oh wait, I did! It hurt so bad. I had jeans on and she still managed to leave teeth marks and a bruise!
I could have been so upset, but about 2 minutes later I sneezed and she said 'Ess you Momma!" and my heart melted.

Sometimes I read other blogs or see people at church with their 4 children and I think 'How in the world do they do it? WHY do they do it?" But I know that everyone has good days and bad - I just need to convince myself that being 8 months pregnant again and not sleeping at night for a few months is worth it. (Here is where your convincing comes into play)

So here are to all the mom's out there. You amaze me! Here is to my mom on this Mother's Day. I truly appreciate all she has done for me now more than ever. She is always offering to help me when I need it, talk to me about my struggles - assure me they are normal and willingly watches Annabelle whenever I ask. She is the first to offer up help - to take a quilt or a treat to those who need it. I don't know how she raised 4 kids - with us turning out reasonably normal ;) She is a completely selfless and a great example to me. Happy Mothers Day!

You keep having them for the "Ess you mommy". Plus this was my philosophy if you have another than they can play with each other and will leave you alone. Just think if you had another Anna could have bit them instead and you would have no teeth marks and a bruise on your leg.

What a great tribute to motherhood! Somedays you do need to sit down and take a minute to appreciate what you've got..but you only get a minute because then one kid has bit the other, or pooped his pants and got it all over the floor and the baby is screaming..yeah, good times..No really, you should have more! You learn so much more with each child..patience (yeah I'm gonna need to have like 20 kids to get patient..come on, hurry up!)and you learn that some stains just aren't ever gonna come out and you learn true, honest to goodness love! And just when you think your heart can't grow anymore..it does and you say, 'how did I ever live without you in our family?' Being a mom is truly one of the greatest blessings!

To the first commenter~
I'm sorry, but when you do have a second child, they do play together, but they DON'T leave you alone. LOL.

Jaclyn - I am NOT pregnant! I am at the point where I need, like really need, to have started thinking about it. And the more I think about it, the more I keep thinking I can wait a little longer ;) However, I will have to find these, said teething tablets. I am willing to give anything a try. Thanks!

happy mothers day. two was definatley hard at first but it has gotten easier. Cambree is a big help, she gets diapers for me, she plays with Hailey to keep her entertained and many other thing. I love it. going to 3 will be the trick though

Happy Mothers Day! I wonder the same thing with having kids. Why do we ever do it? Its splendid and crappy all at the same time. However, I wouldnt trade being a mom for anything else. Mothering doesnt really come natural to me, and I dont know if it ever will, but the longer I am a mom the more I love it. The good always seems to outweigh the bad and therefore we somehow decide to have more of these munkins that bite our legs, and drive us crazy some days.

What the Crap..is right! The good times do make it all worth it. Wait until you get the funny preschool cards, they will save her life! Happy mother's day.

What a cute comment from Ross and Ana. Well I don't have any mommy advice...but you and Ross make awfully cute ones so you'll have to keep poppin' out!

gotta love it when they get their teeth! I don't know if you give medicine-but, advil was a saving grace with our 3! She was terrrible! My dentist said that if adults had to go through the whole teeth thing, it would require narcotics because it is so painful!
the joys of being a mommmy! You are a great mom! Sometimes, we are really good at selling ourselves short! Hope that you had a great day yesterday! You deserve it!

Are you trying to tell us something? Is someone prego? I totally feel your pain on the teething issue. Josh is so slow at getting his in. He is over 11 months old now, and has 3.15 teeth. Each tooth takes 2 months, during which time he is cranky, feverish, won't eat, etc. I doubt your daughter is ever hard to raise...

Megan, I'm glad you found my blog again. Here's my email-I'm just in Lindon which is super close to you. And since we are both down here in good ole Utah County (away from sisters!) we ought to get our two little ones together. Here's my email: jmgoodrich@gmail.com
Also, I love your posts, they always make me laugh. I can't say that Molly has EVER bitten me but she's been laid back and mellow from the beginning-lucky me!
