The recipe is fairly easy, especially if you have a bread maker, which I don't. So I planned on doing it the old fashion way. I started to make the rolls following her directions and I get to the part where you are supposed to add the flour in 1/2 cup increments. I start adding the flour and I add all 4 cups and the dough is still waaay sticky. So I add another 1/2 cup scoop and continue to knead. Still way too sticky, so I add yet another 1/2 cup. I know when you are making bread it is not always going to be the exact same amount of flour, but come on, it can't be THAT off?!
I continue to knead and then add another 1/2 cup, and another and another. Seriously?! Am I doing something wrong? Panic starts to set in and I yell for Ross to come and look. He says it needs more flour. Duh! I begin to tell him how I have added way more flour than what the recipe calls for, but he agrees that I still need more flour. So I add yet another 1/2 cup and another until it finally starts to form a ball. It could probably use another half cup, but I am so terrified that I have done something wrong and added too much flour, probably double what the recipe called for, and that I have ruined the rolls. I cover the dough to let it rise.
I start to make the cinnamon center (which if you are going to make this recipe, I doubled - yeah I like sugar and who doesn't want an ooey gooey center). I need the 1/2 cup measuring spoon so I go to my drawer and pull it out. Wait. If I just used the 1/2 cup shouldn't it be dirty in the sink? So I look in the sink and see the cup sitting there. Yep, sure enough I had been using 1/4 cup. I indeed needed to be putting double the flour in because I was using a measuring cup half the recommended size.
I start to sulk in my own stupidity and stood in the kitchen and stared at both the measuring cups. Ross came in and asked what my deal was and I begin to tell him about my moment of ditzyness and he just laughs at me. Nice.
At least the rolls still turned out awesome and I highly recommend this recipe - everyone at the party wanted it too. Just make sure you double check all your measuring cups and spoons before you use them ;)
On another note of my stupidity...sort of....Nate wanted me to show pictures of the blisters I acquired during the TOU half. Unfortunately I popped them later that day before taking pictures (TMI?). So there wasn't much to take a picture of. However, during the running portion of the triathlon last weekend I felt a blister forming in the same spot on the arch of my right foot. Is it just me or does my foot look ginormous in this picture?
So here, for you Nate, is a picture of my blister (the white part) on top of my healing former blister (the pink part underneath). Not fun; the picture doesn't do it justice. You know what else isn't fun? When you run 13 miles and afterwords your second toe feels a little funny, but you think nothing about it until you look down a couple of days later and wonder if your husband painted one toe nail while you were sleeping.
Then I remember I don't own any finger/toe nail polish. Crap.

love that story, that is so something I would do. Those are some great pictures but they need some blood and stuff. My mothers toes look like that because she runs a lot too. I just thought she was weird but it turns out that your weird too. haha
That is so funny, but don't worry, you're not alone. I have done similar things in my kitchen. And here is a yummy rice recipe:

ENJOY!!
ha! I laughed so hard when I saw this post. You know why? because I just made cinnamon rolls yesterday and totally botched them! I have problems with any recipe with yeast for some reason. Basically my cinnamon rolls didnt rise...AT ALL. I baked them anyways cause I wanted to see if the heat from the oven would help them rise just a little. Welp, they didnt. John called my cinnamon rolls hockey pucks cause thats what they basically looked like. nice....
That is hilarious! I am a spaz when it comes to baking! You should have seen Sydneys birthday cake last year, and tasted it too! I am crossing my fingers that I get it right this year.
Oh and did I mention that you are my hero? I am so excited but way nervous to do a triathlon next summer, I have always wanted to do one but never followed thru on it. But now I have to to prove to myself that I can!
Thanks for sharing the yummy recipe I'll have to make them for sure. I loved your story, something I do sometimes. Ouch to the blisters, there no fun I hate them.
Dork! Just kidding I would do the same thing. I was making brownies the other day and totally spaced adding the water. It mixed into a huge clump like their was too much flour. Then I realized the water, opps. So this new family moved into the ward and they have a girl that is a beehive(I work with the beehives). Anyway I swear she is you when you were twelve. She captures you in personality and looks it's crazy. I can't look at her and not thing Megan.
sorry about your foot. those cinnamon rolls look so yummy. i could never make them because i would eat the whole lot of them. funny story though
Megan I hope you don't care that I look at your blog all the time. I just haven't ever commented untill now. I love that you have food on it. Your family is so cute. You seem as funny as ever. I am impressed with all the running. Keep in touch - Shelly*
Hah hah...I really wouldn't be admitting that! But the rolls look great!
Your feet reminds of what our feet looked like after and hour of toe shoes...yuck.
And funny jokes!
Looks SUPER tasty! Nice blister by the way. You should be proud of it cause you worked your butt off for it. Yummy cinnamon rolls and...feet. hehe!
you are too funny, that totally sounds like something i would do with the measuring cups! And your poor toes, i guess you have to pay the price for being such the runner!
Your posts always crack me up! I think I will try the cinnamon rolls. I love goodies! I am still laughing that you posted a picture of your blister. You are awesome Meg!
hee hee. that totally sounds like something i would do.
bummer about the blister!
Oh boy those cinnamon rolls look good! Like, amazing! I'm thinking of having you ship me some of your creations. I'll pay for the shipping and throw in a little extra for the chef. :) JK. As much as I would like that, I wouldn't make anybody go to the post office for me! I'm sorry about your blister and your flour. Not good. And don't worry, I've done things like that (the flour, not the blister, because as you know, I don't exercise) countless times! I'm glad to know I'm not alone in my stupidity. :)
I would have blisters and black toenails if I could run marathons. maybe next spring/summer you could blog train me since running more than 1 miles is just plain torture. my side hurts my butt and legs start to tingle from jiggling so hard (why is this? did it ever happen to you?)and i am just plain bored. Help me?
Ginormous... All I have to say.
those cinnamon rolls were delicious...mmm...thanks to the bread maker, it was a lot easier here. thanks for the recipe...and don't worry...lets all remember the time i made barbs sugar cookies and put in powdered sugar instead of flour...it must be in our genes....
I'm very impressed with all the stuff you make.
And I've decided right now that I'm going to start. off subject, to keep Reese's hat on it's all a matter of training. If they wear hat's/bows/clippies, whatever since birth, then they will be used to it. Plus if they take it off you tell them it has to go back on. I'm realizing this makes me sound mean. But I just tell her, it has to stay on. And that's it. After a while they get used to it. ( I promise it's not mean, it's for her own good :)
All that ditzyness...hmmm are you pregnant? because I hear that is a sign..
Not such a fan of the foot picture after the yummy cinamon rolls, what were you thinking? Oh i get it you were just trying to make me loose my appetite to I wouldn't WANT to make rolls and eat myself into an oblivion...nice.
What is up with all the Micheal Phelps guest spots..ok correct me if I'm wrong but when he talks doesn't it remind you of the movie 'Predator' when the predator takes his helmet off and opens his wide jaws and screams at Arnold S? Come on now, admit it, when he talks you get lost in all that excess 'jowels' and mangled teeth..besides the fact he can't even speak without tripping over them himself..sorry but he is NOT cute!
Megan those were yummy cinnamon rolls. It was totally easy. Thanks for sharing it is a keeper.
Holy Crap...its MEGAN! How the HECK are you!??!
AMANDA - I get side aches if I eat a lot of junk food the day before so sometimes it happens frequently ;) But if you take deep breaths and make sure your breathing is even it helps them go away. The tingly thing is weird though - never happened to me ;)
KATIE - I don't think you are horrible at all - you sound like any other mom. If Anna would have had hair at birth she would have been used to clippies and such ;) but she is now..just not hats. Guess I will have to work on that!
ALEXIS - I don't think Michael Phelps is hot..from his neck up that is..the neck down is another story ;) He is an amazing athlete though. I have never seen 'Predator' so I can't compare him to that, but I do think he talks funny. The thing about the guest spots was just a joke - I thought it was funny though since evryone is always talking about him.
There were a lot of times I thought about you and tried to figure out how to get ahold of you again. I couldn't think of your last name until I saw it on here! I have a myspace, and I'd look for you there, and I've had a facebook, but never get on there until recently, and saw your profile there (if you even use it still). Yeah, the wedding was good. And if you remember this is the Rob that lived in Oregon at the time that we used to hang out. So we've dated 10 years off and on. I'd love to see you some time! Funny, I actually work a block away from Fabulous Freddy's right now! :P At St. George Care Center, I do the Payroll and Accounts Payable. Its crazy that you have a kid! I thought you had to pass some kind of "test" before they'd let you leave the hospital with a baby....and wow....they let you have one!! jk! I hope we can stay in touch!!!
Those cinnamon rolls look yummy...I'll have to try the recipe. My mom makes what I consider the best cinnamon rolls in the world, so we'll see how these ones rate ;)
I've totally done crap like that when cooking before- sucks eh?
The blister is gross...sorry about that and the toe.
