Annabelle still loves being an older sister and kisses her brother about 50 times a day. She loves to help me change his diaper and put the binky in his mouth if he is crying. Sometimes she wants to help out a little too much.
Last week I put Evan on the couch for a minute while I went into the kitchen to wash a couple of dishes that were in the sink. About 5 seconds later Anna runs in the kitchen so excited and yells, 'He likes it! He really likes it!' Oh crap. 'He likes what Anna?' To which she replied, 'My gold fishy!' I run into the living room to see my son sucking his little heart on something and after sticking my finger in his mouth - sure enough - it was a gold fish cracker. I am so grateful he did not choke or anything! Needless to say we had a long talk about what babies eat and why.
As many of you know, half your day is spent feeding a new born - so Evan and I have spent a lot of time together. Ross wants to help out, but until men can start breast feeding (and oh boy do I wish they could) the way he helps me out best is to play with Anna when he gets home from work. They go outside and ride her bike, work in the yard, they went camping in the back yard last week, they work in the garden or run errands. She obviously has grown very fond of her daddy because now he has to be the one to do everything with her. She has become quite the daddy's girl. And who can blame her - he is pretty swell guy. Look at the flowers he brought home for me. I am not much of a flower girl, but these are right up my alley :)

Oh yay for a good baby boy and a sweet daddy's girl :) Love the flowers too!
That's wonderful that your hubby is helping out so much!
Tanner did the goldfish trick with Taylor...too funny!
the kids are so cute and those flowers are awesome. that is so great that ross and anna can hang out so you can get some alone time with the baby! oh and i'm with ya on wishing men could feed the babies via breastfed! the goldfish cracker incident would freak me out, glad you handled it ok and evan didn't choke on those!
What a cutie Ross is! I love that Anna tried gave Evan crackers. At least she likes sharing, right? I'm still worried Charlie will freak out when he has to share. How long does Evan go in between feedings, and how long does he sleep? It's been quite a while and I'm starting to get nervous. I'm just freaking out about everything really.
So, I know you are the last person on the face of the planet that I have any right to complain to but: I want this baby out! I know you feel my pain, but so far (and I truly hope that I will never have to) I haven't felt yours. How did you do it? I'm such a whiner-pants, but seriously! I'm done!!!
i love the gold fish story. hailey tried to do that to kloey too. it's really amazing that the second the third child ever survives with what their older siblings do to them
You gotta love big sisters. Bostyn is still trying to "share" things with Jax that he just can't have yet. That is so nice of Ross to be such a big help with Anna. I am glad that he is a good baby for you. Oh and I love the flowers too.
They are so cute together! We had the "only mommy gets to feed baby sister" talk the day i got home from the hospital with Ashlynn...good times. That's great that anna does so much with her dad. Kaylee got super attached to me and wouldn't let her daddy do anything with her once the baby came so count your blessings! I'm glad he's such a good baby for you :)
Brennen is such a daddy's boy because he has to be, especially when Ever was first born. I couldn't even imagine not havng him around to help with him. Yay for husbands right? I can't wait to meet him.
Oh how sweet she can share! We had those talks with Baylee also she was a BIG helper sometimes good sometimes not. Love that you can experience these joys!
What a good big sister, but how scary at the same time. Glad to hear that Evan is doing well. What a fun time for Ross and Anna.
What a sweet dad and husband! It sounds like breast feeding is going okay?!? I hope so. I'm glad to hear that he is such a good baby and doing so well. If I knew my 2nd child would be a really good baby maybe I'd get pregnant again! Hmmm not quite yet, I still remember everything too well!
what you went camping in the backyard?! i'm a little saddened my son and husband weren't in attendance...haha. the flowers are gorgeous and i'm glad that i got to share that moment with you and ross when he brought them home...haha. you didn't tell me about the goldfish thing...haha, that's too funny
I hope that Katelyn never feels hurt by this, but I really did enjoy Sadie so much more. I think it had to do with not being so uptight and worried all the time plus Sadie is just so sweet. I'm sure Evan is a good baby and will stay that way.
Sounds like you are doing great. I think it's just easier with the second kid cause we know what we are doing a little more and the babies can sense that. YOu are a great mom! I'm glad to hear that Ross is doing his part.
oh cute...what a sweet husband. Well, once you are feeling like you can brave the world with two kids let me know and we'll plan a pool party for all the kiddies... Brennen is dying to come back down to the "boys house" so lets make some plans!
Baby grant is awesome too. I keep thinking I don't know how you are doing a newborn with another kid though. To be honest Grant can go longer than I can without him eating. At night when he goes four hours I'm dying by the time I wake up. Then he doesn't quiet know what to do with the liquid spewing into his face. It is good times. I'm glad he is chunking up just like he should. Good job mom! By the way I would really like to get together with everyone before we move. I know it is crazy for you. We will be leaving the first week of August.
Oh Megan. I am so glad that you got the fishy. At least she told you. I am glad that your baby is so good so far. I am sure that makes the transition easier.
I'm so glad that Evan is growing and doing so well. You are very lucky to have such a great newborn. Count your blessings.....
I love the story about the gold fishes. I have been there before.
So glad that Anna is having a lot of fun with her daddy, and he is very sweet to bring you beautiful flowers. Your a very blessed mom and wife for sure.
So fun! I loved that last part about all the fun things Anna and Ross are doing together--I always get so nervous when I think about having more than one child around some day. But reading that made me realize that aside from it being crazy busy :-), Dani and Scott will be able to have some special daddy-daughter time. Thanks!
Okay so he is beautiful! Sorry I am such a slacker..at least you know I haven't even done my own blog let alone look at anyone's congrats!
What a great daddy. Ross is such a good guy. I am not a flower girl either, but those would do! I love that they went camping in the back yard. Evan is so handsome and Anna seems to be loving her role as big sister. That is cute, but scary about the gold fish cracker. It sounds like you are hanging in there well with the breastfeeding. Way to go!
I love the flowers! I think every little kid has to welcome their younger sibling into this world at some point. With Sydney it was by pulling her sister off the couch while I was going to the bathroom. I think she wanted her blanket back...
I'm a little late on the congrats (i've been on computer vacation lately)but, Congrats guys! He is so adorable. I love his name and your birth story was great! Good job and good luck with the sleep deprivation.
Austin became quite the daddy's lil' boy after Ava was born too. Ava's been quite the mommy's lil' girl ever since she was born though, so Austin's clung onto the only parent he could. Funny but also scary story about the goldfish. Good job on stickin' in through the breastfeeding, sounds like he's growing like a weed.
dear megan,
I am starting to realize...I think i am so insanely busy, but I don't even have kids yet. I'm doomed!! How do you do anything (not that being with your kids, feeding and nurturing etc. isn't the most substantial, best thing you could be doing, but you know what I mean).
...and by the way, Nolan and I were going to come visit the other day (i may have told you this but dont remember?...), but we ended up not going all the way down South your way as time did not permit. I have a little baby present for you though so I can't wait til we can get together. oh and thanks for setting me straight with my blog. When you asked if we were renting or buying I decided to make it more clear so I added some verbage to the entry. We just bought, we were lucky. Anyway, til next time.
yours truly, melissa
I love the picture of your sweet Anna kissing her baby brother. Priceless. I am glad she is loving being a big sister and that he is such a good baby. Thank goodness for a great husband too. I think you are an awesome mom.
How cute! I can't believe you have two kids--it doesn't seem like that long ago you were planning a wedding!
I didn't know you lived that close to it!!!! I went with Katie Sackett (Kersker) and I actually thought about you when we decided where to go, maybe next time you can meet up with us there!
Congratulations on your little boy and such a wonderful birth. Your pictures are so cute and I'm glad that Anna is loving him. Looks like Evan is a healthy boy. You Dinsdales are just a cute little family of four now.
