And I love my desserts. I made Dulce De Leche Bars (recipe found here ). They were pretty sugary, so I liked them a lot.
Afterwords we played games - they brought the above game called BLOCKUS and it was way fun. Especially for Ross and Tyler who love to strategize and pick on their wives.
We have been all over lately to see friends we don't get to see often. I was also able to go to lunch with the 19th ward girls a couple weeks back - Holla! But I forgot to take my camera - sorry, no pics. Then, last Friday we went to my 'former' roommates wedding - it was fun to see my old roomies and let our kidlets run a muck at the reception. Well mostly Anna - she thought it would be fun to climb the fence, try and jump into the pool, etc..

I also met up for lunch with my dear friend Jenny - we were probable two of the three loudest girls at Weber High (Marcia being the other) and it was fun to hang out again and let our little girls play....okay maybe they didn't do that, they actually got sick of their mom's blabbering for so long they both fell asleep. Haha. Oh how we like to talk. I love being able to get together and see friends and Anna loves being around other kids, even if she doesn't really play with them yet. This is why I love summer time.

Yeah not so much a fan of hot dogs either..but in NY they have these hot dogs called 'Sahlens' ohhh yummy! I'll eat them. Sounds like a fun get together..we'll be joining ya soon!
glad you got the pictures...sorry the first email i sent got returned because it was too big. I am impressed that you ate a hot dog overman!! so proud so proud! that pic with anna and jenny's little girl is so cute...she looks so innocent in that picture. i heart blockus...we play it up at the toyn's all the time...i'm terrible and end up making shapes on the table with my remaining pieces...hmmm
have i ever mentioned how odd it is to me that you and jenny were tight in high school? i always forget that jenny and i both went to WHS cause we've become such good friends post-high school. and now that you and i are post-whs-odd-blogging-sphere-friends it's funny to see that our "former lives" collide. tee hee.
nonetheless, looks like you've been having fun! and the dessert looks DIVINE.
Ah yes. Much thanks to those who were smart enough to have cameras and were willing to share the results of their mad picture taking skills - thanks Chelsie and Jenny :)
How are YOU!!! Chelsie got on my blog, so I got on yours...
Your little girl is ADORABLE!!! I don't think I've seen you in ages! You look great (you always do!)! Skip on over to check our our blog...it should automatically be linked...Where are you guys at these days?
Cute pictures! It sounds like you have been a busy bee seeing friends. Hot Dogs are not on top of of list either, but I'll eat brats which is a lot better.
Thanks for the shout out! I appreciate being recognized for the few talents I hold. Loud being one of them!!!
You know hot dogs are where its at! I'm so proud you ate one! Our get together was great, I can't believe not one of us brought our cameras with how obsessed we are at blogging, oh well next time! I'm horrible at blockus too, but it is rather fun!
What a fun time. It's always great to get together with the old friends. I can relate when you can find that golden food that your kids will chow on. We're having that same problem here. Right now it's mac n cheese for us. :)
Yeah for hotdogs. Hey clint gave me an invitation for you but I don't know your address or if it will get there on time. I will e-mail to info for the reception.
"We have been all over lately to see friends we don't get to see often" This is a line out of your blog. When do I get my visit? Football season is coming soon.
Yeah, hot dogs aren't so bad if you get the right kind. I prefer Nathan's Famous hot dogs, even though they are a little pricey, because they are all beef and don't contain any crap like eyeballs and stuff. :) They have a really good taste too! Has Ross tried them? Really I think most people don't like hot dogs because we live in Utah. Utah does not know how to make a hot dog like NY or Chicago. Anyway, glad you gave them another chance. :)
Thats so funny about Ross and hearing my name because whenever I hear his name I think of one of his famous quotes that he told my mom & dad. "Don't Die or you'll be dead". When Cody says his name my mom will always say "The Don't Die or You'll Be Dead Ross"? Cracks me up!!!!
I like "smart dogs." They are a meatless dog and they are way good--but are an acquired taste I'm sure. Will you become my personal treat chef? My only request is that you take the leftovers home so I don't eat them all!!! I'm like Ross too, I LOVE condiments. I am on a never ending quest to find the best BBQ sauce.
Wow! Looks like you've been having a ton of fun! Really though, how have you made it 7 years without eating a hot dog? With church gatherings and barbeques, I didn't know it was possible to avoid that mystery meat!
Sounds like fun! I love the pic of Anna climbing the fence, Claire is a little monkey too! When are we going to hang?!
Yuck! Hot dogs! But then again a bite or two of one around the campfire isn't so bad, but no matter how they taste they never sit in your stomach to well, but I am glad you enjoyed yours. Brandon is all for hotdogs so I have to upscale the grossness of them so we don't eat them every meal. Seriously. YOu look super cute in that picture by the way too. Really I like the glasses! Hey we come home in four weeks so we need to plan a girls night out and I am holding you to some of these sweet treats I am always seeing on your blog!
Blockus and hot dogs are the best. I'm surprised it's taken this long for you to realize this.
I must agree, you were definitely one of the top three loudest people at Weber High...no question.
Sounds like I am the last to know about BLOCKUS - oh well, that doesn't surprise me.
SARAH - when you live about an hour away I will visit you more :) We really are planning on flying out sometime to visit you guys and possibly go to a game...when that will be for sure is still yet to be decided.
CARLEE - Ross doesn't know if he has had those hot dogs before, but now I am sure that they will be on the list to try. Thanks for the tip. We bought the all beef hot dogs to eat, especially since Anna was partaking - she doesn't need to eat animal eyes ;) But he did all buy bratwurts for him and Tyler to eat and he said the grease we dripping from them into the grill....NASTY!
CASSI - I will make treats anytime. I make the guests take some treats home or Ross takes the rest to work. I can't have them or I will eat them all. We need to plan a get together soon, HEATHER you plan it - I am sure you have time with 4 kids and all :)
TYNEL - I have made it 7 years by packing snacks :) or usually there will be hamburgers and I will eat that. When we went to Yankee Stadium my whole fam ate hot dogs and I had a soft pretzel. I really did avoid them for so long. I am not quite sure why - they aren't THAT bad.
Fun to see the Overmans last weekend. I appreciate your love for ice cream Megan.
We registered for TOU. See you there.
Megan--
Here are some of the recipes that we used when we went camping.
Pineapple Dr. Pepper Spare Ribs
8-10 boneless pork spare ribs 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 green bell pepper; diced 1 cup medium Pace Picante sauce
1 yellow onion; diced 3/4 cup brown sugar
1 (20 oz.) can pineapple tidbits 4 cloves garlic; minced
1 (12 oz.) can Dr. Pepper 2 tsp. coarse ground black pepper
Trim most of the fat from ribs. Arrange ribs in the bottom of a 12" Dutch oven. Drain pineapple reserving juice. Sprinkle bell pepper, onions and pineapple evenly over ribs. In a large bowl stir together the remaining ingredients including the reserved pineapple juice and pour over ribs. Cover oven and cook for 2 hours using 6-7 briquettes bottom and 12-14 briquettes top heat (325° F.) replenishing briquettes once after 1 hour of cooking time. Turn and baste ribs in oven juices carefully every 1/2 hour.
Serves: 8-10
We also made chicken and stuffing in foil dinners. I got the recipe for this from the lovely (and cheesy) Studio 5. Go to this link: http://studio5.ksl.com/index.php?sid=3510446&nid=71 for a whole bunch of ideas.
I was initially drawn to it because they have a recipe to make chocolate oranges in foil dinners. You hollow out an orange and put chocoalte cake batter in it. I didn't try these but they sounded yummy. We did try the bananas on this site and they were yummy!!!
I hope this helps and sorry this is as you say 'an uber long post.' Let me know how they turn out or if the link doesnt work.
Super new look! As previously stated on Chelsie's blog the fence climbing is darling. I love it when it is someone else's kid.
