LaTeLy...

I haven't posted in a while...well for me anyway ;) It's been pretty laid back here and we were gone for the most part of last week, so that explains most of it. I want to thank everyone for the helpful tips on both my 'banana butt bread' (as Chelsie called it) and my tantrum throwing child. I am happy to report I made the banana bread again and it turned out much better.

I think it might be a while before Anna makes such drastic improvements ;)

This weekend my family headed up to Bear Lake for some family down time at our condo before it gets chilly. We had a blast playing games, having an 'Office' marathon, and just being lazy (I hardly got my camera out so most of these pics were borrowed, and I wish I would have especially taken pics of all the yummy food. I am weird like that). I also think eating my own weight in junk food explains the head ache I have today or maybe its because I can see my laundry basket that is toppling over with dirty clothes from this weekend, either way....

we ate the above 'Harry and David' mint malt balls and peanut butter malt balls, or as I like to call them 'a little taste of heaven', cookies, La Beus shakes, lots of my mom's yummy home cooked meals, etc, etc... I could probably not eat for a week. But if you know me I will probably head to the kitchen as soon as this post is over...meh.

We went out to eat the first night at the Bear Lake Motor Lodge and this was their sign. It is missing the 'K' for the Kids Menu, obviously, but Chelsie and I thought we were so funny saying they had an 'LDS' menu. So she wanted her picture taken by it pointing to her CTR ring. Yeah, we are that cool.

We watched home videos my mom recently had put onto DVDs....let's just say they were pretty hilarious. I watched my 6th grade school play where I was Dorothy in 'The Wizard of Oz' and I mouthed everyones lines. We watched our old dance recitals. And I apparently went through a phase where I wanted my pants under my arm pits. We watched this video taken from Christmas morning and every time I stand up I have to adjust my pants by grabbing the waistband, twisting them while pulling them seriously up under my arm pits. Oh I was a sight to see. Anyone know how to get those videos onto my blog?

On Saturday John, my dad, Ross and I did the Bear Lake Brawl - a sprint triathlon. Let me remind you that I signed up for this race about 2 weeks before and I had swam 3, yes count them 3 times since my last triathlon, which was in April. John and I did it by ourselves and Ross swam for my dad and my dad did the biking and running.

It was a beautiful course and the temp was amazing. The water was crystal clear - too bad the water was so choppy every time I went to take a breath I choked on water. Did I mention I am a horrible swimmer? After you finish the 750 meter swim you have to make it back to the beach and Bear Lake is shallow FOREVER so that took a while. Then you have to run over a quarter of a mile up the beach to the transition area (that would be the run to the transition in the above picture of the race).

Coming in from the swim.

Wet suits are so flattering and so easy to get off too! Rrrrright.

The bike was a beautiful 12.5 mile out and back course that was relatively flat - hallelujah!

The run was great! Have I mentioned that I like to run? Definitely the best part of the race, and doing 3.1 miles was much better than th 13.1 miles 2 weeks ago. I kept telling myself this had to be easier than the half and by the way I feel the day after I totally think it was. I am not nearly as sore as I was after the TOU.

FiNiShInG!!

I ended up finishing in 1 hour 31 minutes and taking 6th in my age group out of 18, which left me wishing I would have actually trained for more than 2 weeks for this event and I would have done a lot better. Oh well. We had fun but somehow we didn't get a single picture of Ross in his wet suit. He did a fantastic job jumping in for my dad last minute, also without training. I bet he will be happy that there wasn't a picture of him in the wet suit to document on the blog however.

And I must include a cute pic of the cousins together - minus Bradee Jane and even though my child looks like a little boy when her mom doesn't do her hair. Anna is missing them already and is constantly asking where they are. I don't think they are missing her talking everyones ear off. I think John's exact words were 'I wish my daughter would talk like Annabelle so I would know what she wanted, but there are times when I am glad she doesn't.' Come to think of it...maybe that's why I have a head ache ;)

What a fun family outing you had, wish I was there love your family dearly. Your bread looks yummy, send me a piece. What cute kids you guys have. Seems like yesterday that you were up to my hips. And now you are married and have your own kids.

that's great Megan! way to go!! I need you to write me up a tri-training schedule, yes yes I do. Once I get the TOU out of the way that's my next thing to do. :)

and personally, I giggled with the "lds menu" totally something my BB would've caught.

For a little "DOWN TIME"? are you joking? Way to do the marathon, though! That sounds like WAAAY more work than I want to even think about! I'd rather stay home and make banana butt bread, sit in front of my blog and eat the whole loaf (with a nice soft cube of unsalted sweet cream butter to frost it with)! Maybe I should sign up for the Dam Marathon next year in Rexburg - the Teton Dam marathon. HeHeHe! You inspire me!

Ok, A-MAZ-ING. Yeah, that's what you are. I really admire you avid exercisers and triathlon nuts. Really though, way to go. Your banana bread looks delicious. I think I need your recipe because I have 3 very ripe bananas that need to take on bread form. Could you email it to me at carlydurrant13@gmail.com? Thanks. You talking about The Wizard of Oz brought back such fun memories. You definitely were a fantastic Dorothy. I wish I could watch those videos with you. I just kept thinking about Rhythm Plus and those awesome silver costumes (i.e. silver jacket, hot pants, and hat.) Thanks for that, Tynel. Oh yeah, and our capezio dance sneakers. Weren't those the best? Man we rocked.

How many total races have you been in since St. George. It seems like every other blog post is about you and some race. Andrew was just asking me if you were all into racing when we lived in Logan. I said she has always been into working out but I don't think she ran as much. Then I remember how you were die hard into curves. So did I tell you I won a 1 month free membership their? I'm not so sure about it. It doesn't seem like the work outs are as good as a good run.

wow Megan I am impressed. I mowed the lawn this weekend (well half of it). Does that count as exercise?!? Sounds like a fun weekend though. I love that Annabelle talks that much. Somedays I wish Lucas could talk so I could actually have a conversation with someone who talks back. Him and Mya don't really carry on a good conversation.

btw i'm offended the harry and david peanut butter balls weren't busted out until after i left...i'm crying a little inside right now

Congrats on finishing another race! You really packed up your summer didnt you?! Congrats also on your regular looking bananna bread, it looks delish. Your daughter is talented in the talking dept. takes right after her mommy. I need to work on that a little with Austin, he gets mad when I dont understand what he is saying, poor kid. BTW I just signed up for that St. George half maraton...if you feel like getting sore all over again let me know.

SARAH - I did a lot of races 10k's and one half marathon before Ross and I got married. The summer after Ross and I were married we did a triathlon together in Logan, that was the only race that year. The next summer I was prego and then last summer we did a triathlon together in Ogden and I did a couple of 5k's and a triahtlon as a relay. This year I did a little more racing, but not a whole lot more than last year. I liked Curves because I didn't have to think. haha. Not to mention since I worked there, it was free. I do like lifting weights a lot more though. I do think running is a good work out, but don't forget about lifting weights - it is a very important component to any workout program ;)

BRYNN - I think mowing a lawn counts as excerise...unless it was on a riding lawn mower ;) I have never even mowed a lawn in my life. Looks hard though. If you get bored of not being able to talk to Lucas you should give me a call to chat sometime...or I can always let you talk with Anna :)

CHESLIE - Sorry. They malt balls were hidden behind the mounds of other junk food and mom had forgotten about them. There should be some left. You should go over to mom's and try them - you won't regret it.

BARB - I am thinking about it. I really want to go to St. George with ya again and who doesn't want to do another race? I guess we will have to see which one I will be signing up for though.

CARLY - I will email you the recipe today. I totally remember those silver costumes. You need to watch some of these dance videos - we definitely weren't as good as I remembered. haha.

I'm impressed. I would love to do a triathalon with you one of these days. I am a terrible swimmer as well. I'm doing the Ogden Valley Triathlon this weekend and I have done as much swimming as I would have liked to. It might kick my butt. Anyway, you are my hero!

sounds like a fun weekend. You and Lori keep making me look bad with your marathons and triathlons and such....maybe if I lived close enough to ANYONE to run with, I'd get on the bandwagon. Dang! For now, I'll keep sitting here on my couch blogging and hoping that I keep my carbs in check so I don't become obsese ;)

I'm jealous you got to go to Bear Lake...it's one of our favorite places to visit. Good job on the triathlon and I would sure love to see those home videos!!!

SO I always go to commment on your blog and there are like 18-30 comments before mine and I think..yeah right she's not going to read it, but here goes anyway. Awesome job on the Tri..you are awesome! One day, I promise. Right now I am training for an 8K 'Turkey Trot' on Thanksgiving Day..easy you say? yeah last Thanksgiving it was raining ice! That aside, the bread looks great! And what was on that LDS menu? I would like to know.

Sounds like you had lots of fun. I don't think Anna looks like a boy either. I think you are silly like me and think their hair has to be done with a bow in it so no one will think they are a boy. :) We are going on a temple trip on Sept. 19th. We would love for you and Ross to come if you can.

what a fun week at bear lake, once again, great job on your triatholon, you crazy girl! Oh and shout out to the sixth grade play!

1-Way impressed that you do triathalons and half marathons! When do you actually train to keep your fitness up for these events?? The wet suit is super hot though~
2-Maybe you pulled your pants up so high because you had a nerdy dance instructor who did that??? Maybe it was the style of the day??? Would love to see some of that footage!!

Aren't carb-induced hangovers the best? I'm sure a lil' sugar will remedy that! I'm glad your "butt bread" problem was fixed--too funny. I can't wait to see those videos!!! If you can't post em we need to have some sort of party--I have some other videos of Becky and I from Kids Are Music I could add to the pot.

ALEXIS - All my comments get emailed to me, so I read each and every one. We all love comments so don't hold back :)

CASSI- I am thinking watching some funny home videos from the awkward years of our lives could be quite the fun event. I am in!

TYNEL- I ususally train in the morning before Ross goes to work and while Anna is still sleeping. Around 6. From the sounds of your schedule and trying to get all your kids to school I don't know how I would fit any time in. Maybe that is why I still have one kid ;)

I am not due until Dec. 30th so if you wanted to some visit some time in Oct or Nov, we would LOVE to have you guys!!! It would be so great to see you again! Talk with your hubby and see when would be a good time because you are always welcome here!

Meg, once again I'm so behind... but congrats on the triathlon. Your level of physical fitness never ceases to amaze me! Also, the butt bread really made me giggle. :) I'm glad you finally got it to turn out. Bear Lake looked like a lot of fun; who's that lady in pink in the second to last picture? For some reason, she made me laugh! :)

Meg, I am quite impressed with the triatholons you have been doing. I want to do a sprint before I die but for now the only triatholon I am doing is the one I do every day chasing my 3 kids....by the way your bread looks great! If you want to change it up a bit at some chocolate chips that is my favorite. With the way you like junk food you might like that!

Megan can you share your banana bread recipe with me email it to me. Thanks
