Weekend Fun

Yesterday Ross and I spent the day apart hanging out with our friends. It is always nice to hang out with friends. However, when you and your spouse both don't see each other until 10:45 that , you both like to talk a lot and all you want to do is tell each other about your days - it makes for a late night.

Ross was able to go with some of his buddies from high school to the REAL soccer game. He said the stadium was awesome, but the crowd was even better. REAL even won the game and in so doing might actually make it to their first playoff game.

When I called him to tell him I was on my way home I couldn't even hear what he was saying because his friends were so laughing and being so loud in the background. It made me laugh because boys always make fun of what girls sound like when they get together, but really guys are the same way.

I got to hang out with my fabulous friends from USU. We had a shower for Tiff (upper right) who is having a little girl in January and Melissa (middle between the Chelsie and I) who is getting married this weekend. I am so happy for these girls. It was so fun to hang out, catch up and laugh at all of our weirdness. Thanks for being my friends, even after I make weird faces and noises when I tell stories ;)

For the shower I wanted to make this White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake (click here for the recipe). Please note that the cheesecake tastes much better if you disregard what is mentioned to the left of the recipe. I had envisioned each slice placed on a well presented plate (like in the photo below)

However, once I got the cheesecake out of the fridge to serve to everyone all I could think about was the quickest route to get the cheesecake into my mouth. So basically we served is plain and unpretty. Although even without the syrup it was delicious and I highly recommend it :) Chelsie and I had fun dressing up a slice after the shower was over for the picture.

In Anna news, she has started to say 'cheese' whenever we are taking her picture (and is doing so in the picture above). She is also starting to play pretend and to sing songs on her own a lot more and it is so fun to listen to her and watch her play. The other day we asked her what Daddy's name was and she replied 'Daddy Parka Dinale' and then pointed to me and said 'Mommy Parka Dinale'. The same goes when we asked her what her aunt Lacie's name was, 'Wacie Parka Dinale'. Apparently everyone in the world shares her middle and last name.
All of this is cute except for when she is supposed to be sleeping. I will put her down for a nap or when she goes to bed at night she will seriously talk for 2 hours STRAIGHT until she falls asleep. Is there any way to get her to sleep more quickly and a little more quietly? I will ponder that over another slice of cheesecake....

Justin's favorite dessert is cheesecake so I'll definitely have to try that out!

Molly went thru a stage when she said "Cheese" whenever she saw a camera...that stage is gone now, so enjoy it while it lasts!!!

I am so making that cheesecake. It sounds way yummy.
As for the sleeping issue, I say during naptime- if it takes her 2 hours (of not crying) to go to sleep, let her do it. More you time, right? (Do I sound like a horrible mother?) My kids used to do that all the time, and I would just let them play and talk until they fell asleep because it gave me a bigger break. Hey- at least I wasn't letting them just cry and be miserable. They were happy.

You always seem to have such fun get togethers and the food always looks delicious. As far as putting a child to bed and listening to them talk and sing for hours afterward, I have no solution. The same thing happens at my house almost every day and I still have not found a solution. I finally decided that if she is staying in her bed and not bothering anyone else, there was not really anything I could do. Good Luck!

Looks like you guys are having a lot of fun. The cheese cake looks delish I will have to try that recipe. Lizzie does the same thing before bed she honestly will be in there for hours. I think it is a stage and as long as they aren't upset there is nothing you can do but hope they grow out of it.

You kill me with your endless pictures of your baking. When are you going to bake something for me. We will be driving through town sometime before thanksgiving. Hopefully we can make time for each other. We will be down in Monroe for a few days if you want to drive down. After all it's just like driving to Logan, right? You can come and stay there is plenty of room. Anna is so cute. Can you blame her for talking so much after all you are her mother.

Cheesecake always helps me in my decision making as well. And, that cheesecake looks amazing. Dang. It's Sunday night and I need some cheesecake and don't have the proper ingredients to make me some. It's close enough to Monday right? I mean, shopping on Sunday really just applies to the morning hours, right? Ok, nevermind. I will just go cry myself to sleep.

As much as I love hanging out with the girls at showers, I would have been dying to be at the REAL game WITH the cheesecake. . . The talking thing is funny to me, and I agree with the girl who said as long as they are in bed and not hurting anyone, leavem be. Sydney does the same thing, and I just soak up the extra time she is giving me to do whatever I want! Because by the time she talks for an hour and sleeps for 2, I have 3 hours of quiet time (or now Morgan time)!

Baylee used to do the same thing. Matt and I would stand outside her door and just laugh at the things she would say and sing. So funny. She has grown out of it. I miss it...you will too.

Sounds like fun. The cheesecake is so pretty :) I love making food pretty, but I probably would have eaten it too quickly too. Anna is so cute- I love her tights! I guess talking for hours is something I have to look forward to with Addie too....she already "talks" so much. Sorry, no ideas there.

I like that she talks herself to sleep. Cute. I bet it's annoying sometimes, but cute. You are such a cook. I am impressed. So I have a favor to ask you. Will you e-mail me some recipes of your favorite thai stuff? Mike has a LOVE for it. I don't think the caps really express his love... Anyway, I am glad that your flight went okay. Sounds like you figured it out. You looked so pretty at the wedding.

The cheesecake looks so yummy, I'll have to make it for sure. I love how you always have so much fun. Anna looks so darling, and growing up so fast and learning such fun things. She is differently at the FUN stage. That is funny about thinking her middle and last name is everyone else's. She makes me laugh!

hey, about the eggs, it could just be an intolerance to them but it could be allergies. everyone reacts different. i would get her tested cause it could get worse. they did blood tests on tate. so i would call your doctor. try cutting them out of cooking and stuff and see how she does.

Your daughter is so cute!! I love the stories you tell about her! That cheesecake really does look good. I think I am going to print that recipe and make it for my hubby's birthday on Saturday. He'll love it. Thanks for blogging about it!!

Anna is so funny. How can she talk that long to herself? And in the dark? Like mother like daughter! I did get Carrera's dress at Gym. Love that place. I love Anna's dress and tights. I got that face soap at my work. Nicholls and Co. but you can get it at any aveda salon/grassroots. I don't remember your white tights during practice but it sounds funny! I loved dancing with you:) We need a reunion!

Kaylee and Annabelle must be related. Talking and singing non-stop is what I listen to all day as well. It's definitely entertaining. I'm hoping it continues into the teenage years so I'll always know what is going on with her :)

Whoo-hoo like its only been forever since I've been admiring your diaper bag and wanted it secretly..I would plan these amazing 'heists' that involved me dressed all in black, following you down a dark alley..I don't recall why you wre going down the alley..but I think it involved a cute, cuddly bunny..so there you were..unsuspecting following a white bunny when BAM out of no where I hand you a piece of white chocolate cheesecake and you say..'ohh for me?' and then I run off with your purse..hahaha it was perfect, pefect I say..ohhh did I say all that out loud?
hmmm, so what's that website?
