I loved the restaurant's decor and atmosphere. Usually Mexican restaurants have chips and salsa..here there were 3 types of salsa - a green, mild salsa; a red, spicier salsa; and a jabenero (super hot) salsa. Ross tried to be tough since he went to Mexico City on his mission and took a big scoop - the waitress was impressed - I just rolled my eyes. The chips were fried tortillas that you break yourself - I thought it was fun, Ross and Brandon thought it was just one more step between your mouth and the food...BOYS!
Our meal included an appetizer sampler consisting of: 1 chicken taquito, 1 beef taquito, 2 Sea Bass wraps (feel free to make any "Dumb and Dumber" reference here) and 1 muscle. I totally forgot to take pictures of the appetizers and they had the best presentation. Oh well. The taquitos were good, the sea bass was take it or leave it for me, and none of us dared eat the muscle - it looked chewy and I have a texture problem and thought throwing up might not be a good idea.
Entrees - we could choose from 3 (only because they haven't opened yet, when they do they will have a full menu). Tonight is was fish tacos, carne asada, or cheese enchiladas. Chelsie got the enchiladas.
Ross, Brandon and I got the Carne Asada - it was quite tasty. Dessert was a banana split with fried plantains (one of Ross's many Mexican favorites he misses that I don't understand) - but it was yummy nonetheless.
And small fried tortillas with cinnamon and sugar (like yummy churros) with layers of vanilla and strawberry moose between, mangos and blood orange syrup at the bottom. It too was yummy, but most desserts are fine by me.
Overall, I liked it. It was different from most Mexican restaurants...especially in Ogden - no offense to Javiers ;)

MMMm I love Mexican food. Anna is so stickin smart, Kate just screams and runs around all day.
That sound fun although I'm offended that you didn't call me when Chelsie came down to come hang out to...rude! I think we should totally plan a trip to St. George. All my weekends are free so I'm in!
Sorry Marie! I swear it was a last minute thing! Thanks for letting us come down and hang out though! I told mom I felt like her, cause I could have spent so much money on little goodies at Cabellas! It was fun to get together with you guys, me and BRAndon, had a gay ole time! I look like I'm pregnant in that picture....that's sad...
I am so jealous!!! I dream of being a food critic someday and I have to say, I love your pictures of the food. This post was right up my alley. I have to admit, you are right about O-Town's Mexican restaurants. I am just not a huge fan of Javier's if you know what I mean. Too bland for me. So, overall, did you really like the place and would you recommend it or was it just okay?
Looks yummy. We ate at a wonderful Mexican restaurant in San Deigo and it made all our Mexican restaurants look horrible. This one looks very similiar so we will have to try it out. Thanks for the pictures of the food.
I need to partake of this new restaurant. I heart Cafe Sabor. I am impressed you got pictures of (most of) the food pre-eating. I am so busy scarfing it down I forget to.
Chelsie- You are lame and don't look pregnant. You just still have nursing boobs ;)
Carlee- I liked it and I would reccomend it on what we experienced Saturday. However, we asked to see their menu, but alas it was not complete yet. So my opinion is skewed and it could change when I know what they will offer (i.e. good selections) and what the price is.
Is this Steve Kippen that is starting this restaurant? I remember you saying he was a manager at Cafe Sabor and so I am figuring this is who it is. But wasnt he going to be a pilot? I am confused. Cool that you guys are able to be food critics though! I am guessing that meant free food too! woohoo, I would have taken advantage of that for sure. That bananna dessert looks sooo good.
um...I check your blog at least once a week. I must have forgotten about that post. So sorry! Well, I'd love to do some saturday trainings with you...I think Christy and I are doing the Eden one...I'm not sure. She just told me I was doing it with her and I said okay. Well, we should make the girls trip the same weekend as your race...that would be fun. We could be your cheerleaders
Megan! I'm glad that you commented on my blog. It was so good to hear from you. You're not delusional...my blog was private once upon a time...the time I was an over-reacter after I googled my name. Anyway, I got over the fear, and as a result, it's no longer private! I'm glad you tried again. I love looking at your blog. Your daughter couldn't be any cuter or more adorable. I feel so glad to have found both you and Chelsie. Ahhhh...blog stalking. Hope to keep in touch.
Carly
It looks like you guys had a great time. I am always up for a good mexican resturant. Also, love Anna play clothes, I am glad you were able to find some cute shorts for her. I am so ready for shorts, and flip flop season.
I am excited to go to that restaurant! We always drive up to Cafe Sabor in Logan. So, I am pumped that there is something down here in Ogden since we live like 8 minutes from it.
By the looks of your food I wish we would have gone on Saturday night...Our food was still good don’t get me wrong, our choices were steak, chicken or salmon.. But I am definitely going back when they open to try it again.
