4th of July Festivities

Where else would we go for the 4th but Ogden? We headed to my parent's house Thursday night and woke up early Friday morning and headed to Huntsville to do some running. We were planning on doing the Cherry Days 5k, but opted for cooler temperatures and a big breakfast at the end. Brandon and Chelsie did the 5k, and John, my dad and I ran the 10k.

The temperature was great, it was overcast, and the run was pretty. Chelsie and Brandon accomplished their goal (Chelsie's goal was to not walk at all) and John, my dad and I took 2nd place in our age divisions, even though we all had different times...kind of funny. I finished in 50:36 and I was pretty disappointed in myself when I saw the girl who took first finished 1 minute faster than me....oh well.

Next month is the half marathon and we were all thinking about how we would be running over twice as much as we did today, which isn't the most appealing.

After the race we had breakfast in the park, wandered around the booths, saw the F16 fly overhead and watched the parade. The candy wasn't the best (mostly taffy) and there were a ton of kids, but Anna managed to score the above stuffed animal from the sheriff and it wasn't super hot like it is at Cherry Days - a major bonus.

That night we had a bar-b-que at my mom's house and I made a patriotic fruit pizza for dessert. It didn't turn out as great as I had hoped visually, but it was super yummy.

That night we watched the fireworks at Weber High from my parent's house and then had a little too much fun with the sparklers we had....
Smiley Face :)

Ross and John thought lighting 25 sparklers at the same time would be fun...it turned out they get really hot.

Ross coming up with another 'idea'

Our 4th of July was great and I hope you all had a great one as well!

Funny, our 4th sounds almost identical to yours-minus the run of course...and in Plain City rather than Huntsville. Don't you love the 4th of July??? I do!!!

Good for all of you!! That dessert looked beautiful. I loved the sparkler pictures. Sparklers burn at around 1200 degrees, I guess that is pretty hot. Cute pics as always.

You are like a running machine!! Too bad we don't live closer I need someone to make me do it! I'm glad you had a good 4th. The Riverdale parade was all taffy too, cheap suckers. My friend was giving her 2 year old sparklers and then acted surprised when she kept burning herself, not too quick. So I'm glad your sparkler mishap was adults only! What's your schedule like? We all need to plan something soon!

Truly an inspiration Meg. You are a running fool, and you are the best motivater. Looks like a fun fourth, your cooking skills are rocking too. I guess you can eat all that great stuff when you run as much as you do and still look hot(; Anna's dress in the horsey pics below is darling, you dress her so cute.

Ok so not fair..apparently buying fireworks is ILLEGAL in New York? don't ask me why? its not like we live in a desert and a fire could easily break out..but I guess maybe we could blame it on the liquor laws and how teens go and get drunk all the time! And how people here just use anything as an excuse to get drunk.DANG YOU, DANG YOU ALL TO HECK!!
Great job on the 10K, I am still just so impressed with you! I ran my usual three miles this morning, but I have a long way to go before I am back up to speed and running greater distances..some day right?

Well aren't you the festive girl--go USA! Ross cracks me up. I always wondered how adults got burned by fireworks--now I know.

ok that top picture looks like Chels only has one leg! Am I the only one to think this? Chels you're posing so pretty though. I tried looking for you guys after breakfast but to no avail. Brennen got a stuffed animal to from the paramedic van, it's an UGLY turtle but B loves it!! Funny, we must be right in our claims of having adorable children!

You are crazy! Just kidding I'm so jealous of your determinations to run all these races. I wish I can be as much as a running fool as you. Looks like your fourth was productive and fun. I will have to figure out what's going on with my reader to see why it's not letting me know you have updated. I should have known better when you didn't update in like two weeks.

Fun fun fun!

It may appear that we go on a lot of vacations, because we happened to go on two within three weeks, but it just so happened that both our families planned family vacations this year. Good for us. Clay did not come on either trip, he stayed with the other side's grandparents, which was nice.

Where's your SYTYCD commentary? I just put mine up for last week!!
