Birthday Bash

Last weekend we headed up to Ogden (no surprise there) to celebrate our niece Danika's first birthday. She had a luau/pool party. As soon as Anna saw the pools she wanted nothing to do with anything else and tried to dive right in.

As you can tell from the picture, the water was not warm (she is signing cold) but she got used to it and had a fun time playing in the water, naturally.

I don't know how this happened, but all the kids managed to get a hold of some cups. They should be playing with the cups or dumping water with the cups - we had to keep telling them not to drink the water. They didn't listen well.

Annabelle wanted in on some of the present action.

But the best part of the party was the cake. Most 1 year olds just look around when the cake it brought out and barely touch it - well at least that is what happened to Annabelle seen here. But not Danika, she dived right in. It was hilarious!

Apparently Kayla (her mom) had a 'trial run' before. What a smart idea - that way she did exactly what we all wanted - which is so funny that all parents want their child to get messy with their cake - all moms want it...why? Why do we want them to play in a cake? Because it is expected and desired, but why?

Because who doesn't want to be the only female smurf? :)

Megan I think you should have used fluffy blue frosting for Anna's cake. That is so dang cute. The signing is great. Do you watch the videos?

Sorry that posted twice. The first time I get to post first on your blog & I do a stupid thing. Sorry.
That cup thing is so typical, but really you have to drink a gallon of pool water just to have a good time. No wonder Crypto is a problem. If you saw my post this morning, you will know that Jake & Gretchen are also ice cream addicts. Have you found a program for ICAA (Ice Cream Addicts Anonymous)?

My girls drink pool water too..it is quite frightening..I think they are finally starting to understand NOT TO DRINK THE POOL WATER..after I have told them a hundred times!

Ha! that is true, who doesn't want to be the only female smurf! We need to get together again soon.

That looks like some good cake. It is funny after you tell your kid to not to something so many times finally you just shrug your shoulders and say "well it hasn't killed them yet".

Hey about your camping question...We didn't take a port-a-crib because it wouldn't fit in our tent. Instead we made a little bed for Kate to sleep on and brought her favorite stuffed animal that she sleeps with every night. Our first mistake was giving her a nap the first day. She was too hyper to go to bed that night even though it was 10. The second day we skipped the nap and by the time it was getting dark we did our bed time routine and layed down with her. She was really tired but not past reason. If she gets too tired then she has to scream herself to sleep. I had to remind her a couple times to stay laying down but she was out in about 5-10 minutes. It depends on the baby though. If Kate has things to do she can go without a nap and is only slightly cranky it is when she gets bored that it hits the fan. But being outside she always had stuff to do. I hope that helps. If you have any questions just let me know.

P.S. Just don't plan on sleeping as well as you normally do then if you don't it is easier to deal with. It is camping after all.

That is the way I like to see a girl eat her cake! So I had no idea that you use to live right next door to Josh and Lyndi. You guys wouldve been in our ward if you went to the student married ward. I asked Lyndi the other day how she knew you and she told me. Small world eh? we only live 3 blocks away from where they live.

I love the picture of Anna signing cold. What a cutie. Your little cousins cake face is hilarious. You don't see to many kids to that!

So I got the cake idea from the family fun website and as for the camping/sleeping we took everything out of our tent that Taylee could play with and just zipped her inside and let her tossle it out.... then we moved her when we finally went to sleep. Hope that it's fun. I love the pool party. Taylee loves to drink pool water too....Sick.

I love the new blog look. Will you re design mine I can hardly stand to look at it. So last week we were swimming at the local rec. center when I realized that Jane was going to town drinking out of a cup. I almost puked and then quickly realized that is why she had diarrhea last week.

Clay's first birthday is coming up in a month and I do NOT want him to have cake smashed all over himself. However, my mother and sister do, so I'll probably let him loose on a cupcake.

I probably won't make it to the SYTYCD finale party, but party hardy for me!

Fun pictures. I think all kids drink from the tub or swimming pool. I'm suprised they don't get more sick. Say hi to Rossco

ANGELA - Yes. Anna watches 'Signing Time' and LOVES it. A little too much...she is always asking to watch it and I have to limit it to once a day. Usually around 5 when I am making dinner - it has been my saving grace. Do you have the videos. I only have a couple. If you have more, you should let me copy them :)

MARIE - I did get to see Marcia and Ever last weekend. I went over to her house after Danika's party. She is so teeny tiny cute. And yes, on the side of my blog I changed it from a 'link list' to a 'blog list' and it shows when they last updated their blog. It's handy dandy.

SUSIE - I got my blog layout/paper from http://leeloublogs.blogspot.com/

it is the 'Kayla' paper. Thanks to everyone who said they liked it too :) I have been in love with the color brown for quite some time now.
