Every Tuesday during the month of August Thanksgiving Point has '$2 Tuesday's' where you can get into their Gardens, Museum of Ancient Life or their Farm Country for only two bucks and Anna is free because she is under the age of 2. So when my friend Alexis called me up and asked if we wanted to go, of course I said 'Yes!' We both had no idea what we had gotten ourselves into...

When we got their at 10:30 (the museum opens at 10AM) the line was wrapped around the building. Little did we know that every other family in the state of Utah had the same idea. So we waited in line for about 20 minutes - not too bad. The place is seriously HUGE so we figures no big deal. Wrong. It was packed like sardines, or if you are an Ellen fan like me, pickles.
Kids were everywhere, shoving other kids everywhere and non observant moms in abundance. They had a room full of water and sand where you could bury dinosaurs and such, afterwards you had to wash your kids hands off and I had a mom nudge Anna out of the way while I was washing her hands and stick her kid on front of her. Love it. They also had this 'dinosaur dig' room where you could brush off the sand to reveal dinosaur bones. This is my view of it. We were stuck outside with no way to move...anywhere.
After a few minutes, it cleared (the walk way that is) and I was able to get a good shot of the kids playing.
After about two hours we had had enough. We did have a good time though, it was nice to get out of the house and it was cheap, but we both agreed paying full price to have a little more room to move might be better - people stress me out...and this about sums up how my kid acted.
Oh and I just got 'Breaking Dawn' today in the mail...stupid Amazon.com! Luckily my husband bought it for me Wednesday night because he knew I wanted to read it whilst vacationing in Bear Lake this last weekend, so now I have 2 copies, haha. Anyhow, I know there might be a few people out there who have not read it yet or finished it, but I would like to discuss and hear others comments on how they felt cause I have heard mixed reviews.

I have mixed feelings too. I won't say anything so as to not spoil it for others, but if you have read it, leave a comment or shoot me an email on your thoughts if you so desire.
Or Anna says you can call her. She loves to talk on the phone lately, a little too much. If I am on the phone she usually just grabs it out of my hand to talk to the other person, especially if she thinks it is Grandma on the other end. She is pretty good at carrying on a conversation with the person too...I have no idea where she got that from?
Just don't call her too early, she doesn't like that ;)Oh and if you don't know where I got the title for my post, don't bother calling either. I can only be friends with others who enjoy 80's movies as much as me. Kidding.

Wow...that sounds like utter and complete mayhem. You need to ride up on your bike in the night and say "two dollars....two dollars!" Lol...Anna is cute as always. I have NO idea where she gets the talking from either! ;)
I must go rent better off dead now--I love that show! I have learned if there is a good deal in Utah or something is being given away for free, there will be a billion people there to take advantage of it. As a result, I shy away from such deals--not a fan of large, unruly crowds.
Mike & I reference that 2 dollars all of the time. I am thinking that sounds like an activity that it is actually better to pay extra for. The phone pictures were hilarious. I would so love to chat about the book, but I am still in Alma and have promised myself that I will finish it first.... Oh, how I wish I was a better mormon...
We should have an 80's movie night with all the girls. I love that movie era. I bet it was so crowded because Thanksgiving Point started airing all these commercials about $2 Tuesdays on the TV and in the newspaper last week. That bottom pic of Anna is classic, love that cute face.
Yeah it seems like good deals like that always come with a crowd which isn't worth it in my opinion. Ben and I love going to our local Farmington pool cause there is hardly anyone there. They have free swim days and I tend to not pick those days because I know we will be packed in there. Love the phone pictures of Anna. She is going to want her own phone when she is 3!
I have finished Breaking Dawn. Just did this morning. Amazon.com got it to me on Thursday.. wonder why they took so long to get it to you? I also had mixed feeling about it. I wish there had been more action at the end - boring! I kept waiting for something to actually happen in the book and really, the birth of Renesmee (name is retarded, by the way) was the most action in the whole book. I have a feeling that a book about Jacob and Nessie is coming up. Anyhoot, those are just some surface thoughts about the book after finishing today. :)
Corynn that is how I feel! The book was anti climactic. Bella spent so much time training and you think something is going to happen and then Aro just says well then, your right, okay bye. What? I am sure if someone would have died I would be unhappy, but it just all seemed too easy. And Renesme? Are you freaking kidding me? Horrible. The whole pregnancy thing I never saw coming though or Jacobs imprinting. Although seeing it from Jacobs point of view helped me understand the whole concept a lot better. Still weird you can feel that way about an infant though and that he used to love and kiss his future mother in law. But at least Bella isn't dragging him along anymore.
I am excited about the book she wrote that mirrors Twilight but from Edwards point of view.
Ok. I'm on board with how stupid the name is. Bella, come on, quit trying to be clever. Renesmee? I could never actually figure out how I wanted to pronounce it in my head. It's weird to read such a long book and stumble through a name in your head every time you come across it. Also...I couldn't agree more that it was sort of anti-climatic. I wanted the Cullens to kick some Volturi butt. But all in all, I'd have to say it was still probably my favorite of the 4 books. Maybe because Bella becomes a vampire and actually gets some strength to her character. It bugs me how in the other books she's such a weakling. I like her as a vampire!
unfortunately i haven't been able to read breaking dawn yet, i have been super busy. i can't believe you stayed for 2 hrs like that (pickles) i would have left long before that. man, i haven't seen better off dead forever, i'm long overdue
I know I wanted to call you SOO bad, but my phone doesn't work in randolph and then I was secretly glad I didn't because I ran so poorly. Seriously I haven't ran that slow ever I don't think. I got the worst side ache ever. I think it is just because I was so run down after being crazy buys. I sent you an e-mail about going to see brynn tomorrow. I'm also planning on going to visit barb soon but I'm not sure when I'll let you know. I love those pictures of anna on the phone.
That's a bummer about Thanks Giving Point; I don't like waiting let alone having to deal with a bunch of people. I love the bottom Picture of Anna, it's so funny.
Now on to Breaking Dawn, loved the way it ended not to thrilled up to that point. I as well had mixed emotions. I felt like there was so much information crammed into one book. It seems as though she could easily have written this book into 2 books. I loved some of the new characters she added, I would have liked to know their relationship with the Cullen’s and more about them. Everything just happened so quick with her getting married, having a baby and changing into a vampire. I find myself wanting more.
So I just finishished breaking dawn yesterday, and I'm all about happy endings and stuff but I totally feel the same way, where the heck waas the action!? I felt like the story could have ended at like page 400 but it just kept dragging and it was boring! If the story was going to end happy which it did, I felt like something needed to happen instead of just saying ok see ya later. I also thought the whole her turning into a vampire was way too easy for her too, they talked during all three books how hard it was and it took her like an hour to just be normal again.
Also, I can't believe you didn't see the whole baby and imprinting thing coming, I was reading it and I said to myself both times oh my heck she is going to have a baby! And then I read and she did, then I said to myself after she had her, Are you kidding me!!! Jacob is going to imprint on the baby, I think thats wierd and then I read on and it happened! Ya I was quite impressed with myself for predicting right. Anyway I guess he had to imprint on her to make the whole story happy. SO, after all my rambling I thought it was ok, but I'm still trying to decide if I really loved it, and I don't know if I did.
By the way, did you see the next one she is writing called Midnight Sun, its Twilight from Edward's perspective?
Ha I just read your comment and you do know she is writing that book, guess we will have to wait and see if its going to be a good one!
I still totally think that Edward is way hotter than Jacob. Can you believe that they don't actually suck on human necks? And they don't even sleep in coffins! Unbelievable. What an ending though.
Great title to your blog, Megan! It's a classic. I feel your pain about craziness that comes with crowds. I seriously have panic attacks when it gets to crowded. It's like on the day after Thanksgiving when people push and shove for a 1.00 price they get for free. It is seriously ridiculous. The things we do for cheap fun hu?
It sounds like Thanksgiving Point was fun, but worth paying the full price. Isn't true you get what you pay for. I have been there done that. Cute picture on Anna on the phone it is funny how kids love to chat on the phone like mother like daughter.
ha the phone picture is hilarious! i have been avoiding commenting on your blog in fear that someone would spoil the ending, but i just finished so here i am. I really liked it...but agree...no action in the end...humph...and sadly I really like the romance stuff (i know you don't) so they could have just been newlyweds for a little longer for me. :-) i'm excited for the edward ones though...when do they come out?
Wow! mention Breaking Dawn and everybody has something to say already 18 comments. I guess I will make 19. I feel much of the same as everyone else. I thought that Stephanie gave us or me all that I wanted. When I got to the whole conflict with the volturi and I was like lame and then I thought it was even lamer that they didn't get into a huge fight and kill them off to please the Romans. At the end of the last book Bella was totally getting on my nerves so I was glad to read that her character was a little more confident in this book and slightly less annoying. It was a good read and now I must attend to my family duties that I let go all last week. What I really need is a romantic getaway to Esme Island. lol
After reading the title of your blog I kept hearing the kids voice from the movie over and over in my head. I had to at least watch a clip of the movie to get it out of my system and I did. So, thanks for the inspiration!
Oh Breaking Dawn - From my post last week you can guess how I feel. I was just SO disappointed! It was just so long with not enough action. There were parts that I liked, but overall it just felt so predictable and out of line with the other books. Oh well, I guess Stephanie Meyer can't win them all. I do have to say I was surprised that she wrote Breaking Dawn knowing that millions of YOUNG kids would read it, but in an interview she said that she doesn't think her books are appropriate for young adults and she wouldn't let her own boys read the book. My words to Stephanie - "think before you write"
Like Cassi, I've also learned that in Utah, if it says free or cheap, a billion people will be there...and I still usually go as well. I just can't pass up a good deal. :) I wish I lived closer to Thanksgiving Point. That looks way fun!
i have a really good friend who lives in saratoga springs and she went a few weeks ago. She said the same thing. Needless to say-she hasn't gone back. She said it was a little too much stress for her for one day.
I liked the book. I didn't love it like the first one, but I didn't hate it like the 2nd one. I thought it was pretty good considering Jacob was in the whole book! :) No, I don't like him much!
Did you ever read the host?
Tell me what you think about the book and if you read the host, that one too.
Okay, I have to add my Breaking Dawn emotions: mostly just lame. I wouldn't have known she was a Mormon from her reading until she had to have a baby. I'm proud to be Mormon but there was something that irked me about a half human/half vampire baby running around the world. How bizarre!!!! After every chapter I though it couldn't get any more bizarre, but it did. And the Volturri letting them off like that? I am disappointed, but glad to have a happy ending. Love you blog background!!!
I almost didn't leave a comment because so many freaking people comment on your blog...and your sister's too! What's the deal Overmans?! Well, I really liked the book. I say if I can read it in two days it must have been good. I would have to say that if she was really trying to end the series the book probably needed to be anticlimatic so she could tie up all the loose ends. I dunno. Let's do lunch and discuss. The boys start school on Monday so I"m free for lunches....hooorraayyy!!!
I skipped over your ba-zillion of comments-you are definitely the most popular blogger I know-because I'm waiting for my mom to finish the book and then it's my turn.
Looks like fun at Thanksgiving Point-haha! We had a similar experience at Discovery Gateway-we ended up going on the same day as a field trip. Older kids are not polite, I'll just say that!
Molly loves talking on the phone too. But she always "calls" Grandpa.
By the way, love the new layout!
Well you look like a fine little helper, what's your name? 'Charles Dumar'
love that movie!
Yeah it was pandamonium on Tuesday! Never again, people stress me out too! Since then its been one family event after the other. When does it end?
I have Breaking Dawn at home waiting for me from the library, courtesy of my hubby..I got an email saying I could pick it up..I was like 5th on the waiting list..hahaha suckers! All those waiting behind me will be waiting for a while since I don't even get to start reading it until next week. But I am anxious to discuss it when I am done!
Okay...so I couldn't read all of this because I was afraid you may have a spoiler in here about Breaking Dawn and I haven't read it yet...but I will start on Friday!!! That last picture of Anna on the phone is hilarious. I just love it. I think it could be my favorite picture ever. She is so stinking cute. I really want to hang out with everyone and thier little kiddo's too sometime.
i'm not the greatest of book critics-- i usually like everything. so i did like breaking dawn... but not as much as the others of the series. it was a little anti-climactic-- i really wanted to see the volturi burned to an oblivion. renesme-- eh, what can you do... it just reminded me of a total mormon thing to do: combine two names into a made up one. anyhow, i still liked the story-- i really liked bella as a vampire and how she and edward can be together now. i just take it all for what it really is: a frivolous fantasy.
Better Off Dead...Love that show :) Ok, so people are saying they didn't like Breaking Dawn so much...It is not my favorite, But I still LOVED it and couldn't put it down. I want to know what you thought.
ps. Love the pictures of Anna on the phone, that is SO Mckay right now especially with grandma. Oh, and I hope you gave that lady a piece of your mind that moved Anna out of the way...I sure would!
So I was thinking of going next Tuesday. Is that a bad idea?
